Topeng Betawi is a theatre genre performed in the outlying areas around Jakarta,like in northern West Java,Indonesia.This transitional segment features comedy performed by a female singer-dancer and a male traditional clown.I argue that the stylistic conventions of this segment effect a modulation from movement to word.(And then back to movement again)

Lenong
Lenong is a famous traditional Betawi folk theater.To a Certain extent,this Betawi Theater follows European theaters,complete with its decorations and other properties as influence of stambul comedy,a western comedy performed in Makay,which was popular in the early 20th century.Nowadays,there are two types of lenong,Lenong Denes depicts episodes an king and nobilities,while Lenong preman depicts on daily social life.
Keroncong Tugu
Another Betawi music that is heavily infested with European influence is “Kroncong Tugu”.This sort of music is supposed to find its orogin is Shouth Europe.Since the 18th century the Portuguese descendants who loved in Tugu,North Jakarta,while practicing Christianity,had enjoyed this music.Typical songs of Kroncong Tugu are,among others,Moretsko and Broungga,the lyrics of which are written in Portuguese. The commitiny who were called ”Mardijkers” former Portuguese army members who were set free by the Dutch Government had developed the music.After having changed their religion from Catholic to Protestant,they were reserved in Kampung Tugu.Today,this place is know as the Koja District.They Built the first church in 1661.
