The People

The Betawi group emerged in the 19th century from the melting pot of many races ,ethnic groups and culture.Today the Betawi cultures has a distinc personality of its own,but one can discern the various influences of other cultures by looking or listening to its art form.Not less than 9 million people live in Jakarta representing nearly all the ethnic groups in the archipelago.The major groups are Sundanese,Javanese,Chainese,and the native Orang Betawi(People of Betawi).Other large groups are the minangkabau people,the Bataks,the Manadonase,and the other people from Sulawesi and the Ambonase.

Good facts information on Indonesian people. It would be lovely to also see photos of people. It would be interesting to learn what religions they practice.
Perhaps, a link could be added to the publishing of successful students in the satellite field.
